He got us where we needed to be safely and filled the car with laughter and great conversation. The wine tour and olive oil tour was also very informational. We enjoyed learning about the processes of wine and olive oil making. It was a lovely time!

  A tour not to be missed when in Heraklion  - We were picked up at our hotel right on time and had a private driver. We did meet up with others coming off of a cruise ship in another... read more vehicle.
First stop-Helleo where we were treated to a tour of their lab where they hand make olive oil soap. A detailed description of how to make soap and how it is scented. Very interesting!
Second stop-the olive oil factory with a tour by the owner. Of course this came with a tasting of their oil and their honey. No one left without making a purchase.
Third stop where we saw how they make raki and their vineyard for wine. We sampled raki on our arrival then went to see the grapes. Beautiful! We sampled wine, had home grown veggies and some other homemade raki drinks. All were so good. We did a little Greek dance and then onto a delicious lunch.

This was a great day with a terrific guide sampling great wines, oils and finished off the day with an outstanding lunch that was so delicious and plentiful.

  A great day filled with food, fun, and education  - The tour was wonderful from pickup at our hotel to drop off. The exposure to how olive oil is produced along with the tasting was both informative and enjoyable.... read more The pottery stop was not expected and was educational and awe inspiring. The raki tasting was enjoyable. The winery stop was very educational. Seeing how a small family farm operates, produces wine & raki, and use all the grapes so nothing is wasted was a highlight. The wine & raki tasting was enjoyable, but learning how to use high alcohol to produce flavorful lower alcohol raki will stay with me as I practice this process at home.
Finishing off at an authentic Greek tavern for lunch, wine and more raki was a wonderful experience. Seeing how local Greeks celebrate a birthday, another group at the restaurant not our tour group, was a lot of fun.

  Amazing time at Lyrarakis Winery! - My friend and I had so much fun at Lyrarakis! The shuttle was easy and convenient and on time, and it was pleasant ride through the Cretan countryside. The facilities... read more of Lyrarakis were stunning and the staff we interacted with, Sophia and Daphne, were so kind and really added to the experience of our tour and tasting. All of the wine and food was fabulous. My friend and I even brought home a bottle of Za Za Zu each back to the US! Shuttle service even took us back to our stay in Heraklion- SO appreciated that we didn’t have to coordinate transit/taxi to the winery and back. 100 recommend this experience for a few hours of entertainment outside of Heraklion and as a way to see a less urban part of Crete!

This tour included (5) wine tastings ?(they called it the queen tasting). Another tour included (7) wines.

The 5 wines were a selection of mixed vineyards, and the 7 were their nicer wines single source wines.

He arrived on time, was polite,... read more opened doors, and kept us informed throughout the day with insights about the itinerary, local attractions, and even the buildings we passed. It would've helped to get clearer instructions on how to let him know when we were ready to leave each stop.
The handicrafts were lovely—though small ceramic coasters would’ve been easier to pack. The olive grove tour was impressively detailed; we’d have liked more info on how olive oil is graded and what makes it “extra virgin.” Wine tasting was a highlight—fun and informative—but the winery’s hygiene raised some concerns.
Lunch at the taverna was delicious and generous. The olives were outstanding! More grilled vegetables would’ve been great for vegetarians.

  Fantastic excursion for foodies  - Very interesting tour. Focus very much on the places we visited rather than seeing Crete’s beautiful countryside as everything was very close to Iraklion, but we both really enjoyed ourselves.... read more Shared our jeep and driver guide with 3 other people , really enjoyed chatting to our guide about farming and food and the cost of living and the jobs market and family olive groves. Soap makers I wasnt particularly interested in seeing beforehand, if I’m honest, but actually they were a highlight. The guys were funny and interesting and so committed to their product and it was a real eye opener. Olive oil producer informative, with a good tasting session and lots of things to buy in their little shop. Favourite bit though was the wine and raki tasting. The owner, whose name I have forgotten, was lovely. The tour of the farm was fab, but it was a real joy to sit down with her and hear about the wines we were trying - which smelt and tasted amazing! She was so welcoming, it felt like sitting down with a friend. As always, the value of this tour for me was the people we met and spoke to and what we learnt about the island. The Cretan relationship with land and with food production is a world away from my own life in London, but my trips to Crete over the years have genuinely changed how I think about these things, and how I eat. Highly recommended. Thank you everyone!
